Small request -- the ones who have already interviewed with Ivey for 2022 intake, if you do not mind me asking,
1) who did you interview with from the career management team? and,
2) how was the experience overall?

Hi folks!

I received my admit from Ivey today.

Here's my timeline:

March 3 - Submitted my application
March 4 - Received an interview invite
March 26 - Interview with Patricia Guzzo from the Career management team
April 14 - Received admission offer.

About me: 26, Female, Indian, 620 GMAT, 2 years 10 months experience in Strategy consulting, Graduated with a Bachelor's in Mechanical engineering with a dual degree in Biological sciences from BITS Pilani (Tier-1 university in India), Toastmaster since 2.5 years, Professional violinist since 17 years.

Career goals: Corporate strategy in Automotive/Aerospace

About my interview: This was my first interview I've ever given so I was nervous but since I did a lot of prep (Ivey podcast, spoke to 7 alumni, did extensive research about the school & thanks to the million client calls I've been in), I was confident about my stories & my learnings. Patricia was amazing. I loved speaking with her. She made me feel extremely comfortable & even when she was asking details, I didn't feel that she was probing. My interview was scheduled for 45 minutes but we ended up speaking for 90 minutes.

I will post my interview debrief, if anyone needs. Good luck to all the applicants! :)

Hey Mel1212, congratulations on your admit to Ivey! :)

Please do post a debrief of your interview.

Also, I'd like to know how did you cope up with low GMAT? (That's some hidden gem there)

Thanks!

Thank you! Haha that will remain a mystery I guess. Maybe they liked other aspects of my profile. I did a lot of diverse engagements with a French client and a lot of volunteer work in Toastmasters as well. Plus I think being a violinist for 17 years helped!

Here are the questions that Patricia asked:

1. Tell me about yourself.
2. What is something that you do for fun?
3. Why MBA? Why Ivey? Why Canada?
4. What kind of companies do you want to target while working with Career Management?
5. Tell me about a time when you faced some kind of resistance from an employee. How did you deal with it?
6. What kind of stuff do you read/listen to keep up with the trends in your industry?
7. Any interesting article that you read that can be an interesting case study at Ivey?
8. What solution would you have proposed to the above?
9. What is something that people misunderstand about you?
10. What was a time when you made a mistake & how did you work on it?
11. Tell me about a work escalation & how did you deal with it?
12. For tomorrow's global leaders, what are the growth opportunities that you see?
13. Do you have any questions for me?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been following this thread the past few months while preparing my application to Ivey.

I received my admit offer last week and this community has helped me a lot!

Sharing my timeline:

March 28 - submitted my application
March 30 - received interview invite
April 9 - interview date
April 14 - received admissions offer

For my interview preparation, I reviewed the debriefs posted here, which covered almost all the questions I was asked. I prepared my key points for each question, primarily following the CAR model (context, action, result).

The school sends out a podcast link to those invited for interview. This tremendously helped in understanding what the admissions team looks for, what their perspective is etc. In turn, it helped me refine my own narrative and reflect on my experiences to craft better answers.

Hope this helps!

Hi JJC000,
Congratulations for your admit! :)
Can you please share a glimpse of your profile?

Sure! 30F from Southeast Asia. Spent 4 years doing equity research then another 4 years in corporate finance for a publicly listed CPG in my home country. I am also a CFA Charterholder.

Are you currently applying or waiting for a decision?

Missed R2, due to low gmat (640 :( ). Planning to apply in R3 now (July deadline). Guess the competition will increase by that time.
Mind sharing your GMAT score?

sahilaro23 - I think you can still apply. Ivey doesn't have a concept of 'LOW' GMAT score as they review your entire application with equal weightage. I've noticed across several forums that only Indians feel that any score less than 700 is less. I'd advise you to continue with your application. The amazing thing about Ivey is that no one from the Admissions committee waits for the deadline. You might just get in if you do your interview well.

Plus, you can still write your GMAT again (like I'm doing right now).

Hey Mel1212

Curious to know the reason behind writing the GMAT again as you already got admitted.
Is it to apply to other schools?

bschooluser Hi!

My backup career plan is to get into Consulting. Few consulting companies consider GMAT score as one of the parameters for selecting candidates. I'm interesting in IBanking as well. Hence.

640 is well within Ivey’s GMAT range I think. Your work experience likewise looks solid — you should take your chances.

If you are really keen on retaking, I echo what Mel1212 said. There is still plenty of time to prepare before the R3 deadline.

GMAT is waived by Ivey for CFA Charterholders.
