All of the following are assumptions on which the argument relies EXCEPT:

A) Jane is interested in becoming a model.

If Jane is not interested in becoming a model then being tall and slender won't help!!

B) Jane has not passed the appropriate age at which to begin a future modeling career.

If Jane has passed the appropriate age at which to begin a future modeling career then being tall and slender won't work!

C) Jane has facial features that are suitable for modeling.

If Jane's facial features are unsuitable for modeling then being tall and slender won't work!

D) Jane does not have any modeling experience.

Does it really matter ? No is born with all the necessary experiences. One has to acquire/develop those skills.

If Jane doesn't have experience in modeling she/he can be groomed or he can acquire those skills, additionally he has necessary features (being tall and slender) so she/he can still be a model..

E) Jane is photogenic in nature.

One of the characteristics necessary for modelling , surely this is an assumption.

Hence only(D) is the correct choice !!

I answered D though not convinced fully.
E) Jane is photogenic in nature. - This is not an assumption either. A world class model must be photogenic in nature - is totally outside knowledge. I don't think it's a good gmat practice question. What is the source pls?

Thanks.

A) Jane is interested in becoming a model. --->a valid assumption
B) Jane has not passed the appropriate age at which to begin a future modeling career. -------> can be an assumption
C) Jane has facial features that are suitable for modeling. ----------> a valid assumption
D) Jane does not have any modeling experience. ------> not an assumption because it does not affect the argument.
E) Jane is photogenic in nature. ---------> though not convincing but can be an assumption

Jane is tall and slender. Therefore, Jane will become a world class model.

All of the following are assumptions on which the argument relies EXCEPT:

A) Jane is interested in becoming a model- Supports the conclusion.
B) Jane has not passed the appropriate age at which to begin a future modeling career.- That's why Jane "will" become a world class model.
Supports the conclusion.
C) Jane has facial features that are suitable for modeling.
Supports the conclusion.
D) Jane does not have any modeling experience.
Negate it - Jane does have any modeling experience

Supports the conclusion.

But the opposite does not support the conclusion.

Correct.
E) Jane is photogenic in nature.
Supports the conclusion.
