I want to apply to HEC Sept 2019 intake. I have a work experience of 2.5 years in Accenture as a software tester. I have been interning since then with a social startup. My GMAT score is 680. Is this good enough or should I try for Jan 2020 ? If yes, should I start with the applications now ?

I'm not sure I understand the title of your post ... is January intake but you want to apply to September of last year?

Are you saying that if your GMAT is not strong enough you will be open to applying for January batch? I think that would be overwhelmingly your best options.

Indians are competing with a ocean of candidates and you will want to apply early in the cycle.

Unfortunately I don't think your GMAT is strong enough for an Indian, I recommend that it's at least 20 points over the average which for HEC is 690. And that's an absolute minimum assuming that you have extracurricular activities...Leadership and impact you can point to in all areas of your life.

Also the question should never really be is my GMAT good enough it should be have you done your absolute best on the GMAT?

If you have a better score in you and you have not absolutely maximized your ability to perform on that test you will want to continue to do so until you have.

It factors into acceptance and also scholarships.

I am concerned about the fact that you have 2.5 years of work experience, I'm not even sure if you are allowed to apply with that much work experience so research that.

If you are then you're going to really need to articulate how you have made an impact on the organization will want to track everything you do so that you can show the value of it.

The average age at HEC is actually higher than anywhere else. I think it would be wise to apply to some other Jan programs like Ivey, RSM, maybe IE. Sept, HEC Montreal. HEC Paris is extremely selective and has a pretty low acceptance rate.
