Joe works two part-time jobs. One week Joe worked 8 hours at one job, earning \$150, and 4.5 hours at the other job, earning \$90. What were his average hourly earnings for the week?

(A) \$8.00

(B) \$9.60

(C) \$16.00

(D) \$19.20

(E) \$32.00

Add the earnings and number of hours together
So 150+90 or 240\$ in 8+4.5 or 12.5 hrs
So hourly amount = 240/12.5 which is just less than 20, so 19.2\$ or D

Otherwise 240/12.5=480/25=960/50=1920/100=19.20
