not sure the answer btw A and E, which one is the right answer?

A: "him" wrongly refers to "John Grisham's"
E: "his" (possessive pronoun) rightly refers to "John Grisham's"

Pay particular attention to possessive pronouns that could refer to a possessive noun:

his
hers
ours
theirs
yours

These could refer to a possessive noun
