Hi

the Q is not from a proper GMAT source.
wrong answer, number of choices and haphazard layout of choices all point towards a poor source..

Anyways, remember If you INCREASE something by 25% and then DECREASE by 20%, you will come back to INITIAL.

here increase is >25% and decrease is <20%, so answer has to be more than INITIAL.
ONLY 27 is there in choices..
C

otherwise 25*1.27*0.88=27.94

\(27 - 12 -\frac{27*12}{100}\) = \(11.76\) %

Now, 11.76 % ~ 12%

So, the final wages will be \(\frac{112}{100}*25 = 28\)

The correct answer must be (C)
