"Interviewed by a second-year student. Lasted for about 30 minutes. Very friendly and structured. Started off with his introduction and explain to me how the interview is structured. Questions were 1) "So tell me, who is X?" - Replace X with your name. There was a follow-up question to this. 2) "What does a leader mean to you?". This was followed up with another question. 3) "Tell me about a time when you had to deal with failure or challenging time at work" 4) "Why MBA" 5) "Why Rice" 6) "Any questions for me" He was taking notes on his computer all along and also informed me about this. He kept himself on mute while typing so that I don't get distracted."

"So, I guess this is the first Interview Debrief of Round 1 for 2021 intake, I hope this helps. The interview had truly personalised questions Started with general introductions 1. Tell me about a time when you persuaded your company to acquire the other company. (Personal experience- listed on resume) Takeaways- I answered in the star format but he wanted to know the specific actions taken and also what I felt during the entire process (That was brilliantly new) 2. Tell me about a time when someone else changed your mind. (Had to think really quick in this one) 3. Tell me about a time when you had to work with someone difficult (Pretty straight forward) 4. Why MBA? Why Rice? 5. ST LT goals 6. What intrigues you about your Goal. 7. Houston research question 8. What is it about Entrepreneurship at rice that is intriguing to you for your goals and why Houston is a good place? 9. Questions for him I was a bit frustrated because I had to explain every single thing to him about the interview and quite honestly, most of the works I have done were done on a non-disclosure, so had to be very careful that I don't break the contract and it kinda ruined the entire experience. So my advice to you is to just be prepared to extra drilling, this year, they are going into a more sophisticated personalised interview process"

"I just completed my interview for Rice Jones. The interviewer was a second-year student and the whole interview was really conversational. I would advice not to be too much prepared for the interview that you seem to be rehearsed (he pointed it out to me during the interview :D). Overall the questions were pretty general: 1. Introduce yourself. 2. Why MBA? 3. Tell me about your most cherished leadership moment. 4. You enjoy leading a team the most or working as a team member in a team? 5. Why Rice? 6. Why have you applied in Round 3? 7. Any questions for me? Interview ended in exactly 20 minutes."

"Just finished my Zoom (virtual) interview. It lasted about 40 minutes, was with a 2nd year student. The interview was very relaxed and in some way informal. It was mainly about getting to know me, my career and leadership experiences. I got asked the typical “why an MBA now? and why Rice?” I enjoyed it, the interviewer was very friendly."

"It is a blind interview i.e. the interviewer will only have your resume for reference. He/she will not be aware of the other aspects of your application such as GMAT score or essays. The interview is very conversational and revolves around getting to know the applicant better. The interview is conducted by second-year students and the questions are very generic. The interviewer will conduct the interview in a very warm and friendly environment. Nothing to worry and go ahead and enjoy the experience."

"Jones Part Time MBA Interview If you are looking for advice on the interview, have a clear understanding of why you want to attend Jones and define how not only what the school can do for you but what you can give back in return and become an ambassador and asset. The interview was done with a current student as well as working professional and asked typical questions such as: 1) Why Rice, why now? 2) How will you be able to work and attend the program?. The answers should not be generic and should be a reflection on what you are expecting to get out of the experience because an MBA from Rice is a huge undertaking. Have clear answers, be genuine, and be yourself."
