Fact: Experts give credit to the government policies alone for the recent rise in country’s gross domestic product.
This is what the author intends to evaluate.

A deeper analysis will suggest that during the period under consideration, positive global economic trends led to great foreign direct and indirect investments and falling price of crude oil led to the reduced cost of imports and more affordable operations for a significant proportion of public and private sector enterprises.
This part is the result of his analysis. It opposes the previously stated fact and provides explanation/evidence for the opposition.

In the journalist’s argument, the portions in boldface play which of the following roles?

E. The first is an opinion that the argument seeks to evaluate; the second provides evidence that opposes that opinion.

Correct.

Journalist: Experts give credit to the government policies alone for the recent rise in country’s gross domestic product. A deeper analysis will suggest that during the period under consideration, positive global economic trends led to great foreign direct and indirect investments and falling price of crude oil led to the reduced cost of imports and more affordable operations for a significant proportion of public and private sector enterprises.

In the journalist’s argument, the portions in boldface play which of the following roles?

A. The first is the main conclusion of the argument; the second opposes that conclusion.
The author oppsoses a generally belived opinion by providing alternate reason for the effect. and so the first boldface is not eh main conclusion
B. The first is the main conclusion of the argument; the second supports that conclusion.
The first boldface and the second bold face both provide a reason for the rise in the GDP but both choices claim to be the sole cause of the effect and do not support each other.
C. Both support the main point that the argument seeks to establish.
Both the boldfaces provide alternate cause for the effect for the rise and the second choice opposes the first opinion. The main point of the argument itself is to oppose a commonly believed opinion.
D. The first is a claim that the argument seeks to establish; the second provides evidence in support of that claim.
The first if a generally supported opinion which the argument seeks to refute by providing alternate cause for the effect. The second opposes the first boldface.
E. The first is an opinion that the argument seeks to evaluate; the second provides evidence that opposes that opinion.
First of all the Argument itself is an opinion of the Journalist. The argument as a whole seeks to oppose the general opinion that the government policies led to the rise and to do this the journalist provides an alternate explanation and also believes that the alternate explanation to be true. and for this reason this is a correct answer.

from the journalist argument, we can conclude that there are more than one factors for the rise in the country’s gross domestic product.
so the main point of the argument is that government policy alone is not responsible for the rise

BF1--Experts give credit to the government policies alone for the recent rise in country’s gross domestic product
this boldface is the opinion or position of the journalist

BF2-- positive global economic trends led to great foreign direct and indirect investments
This boldface is a factor or evidence for the rise in the country’s gross domestic product

let's see the options

A. The first is the main conclusion of the argument; the second opposes that conclusion.
BF-1 is not the conclusion of the argument it is the opinion or position of the journalist so out

B. The first is the main conclusion of the argument; the second supports that conclusion.
BF-1 is not the conclusion it is the opinion so out

C. Both support the main point that the argument seeks to establish.
the main point is that government policy alone is not responsible for the rise and the BF--1 contradicts the main point so out

D. The first is a claim that the argument seeks to establish; the second provides evidence in support of that claim.
the argument doesn't seek to establish BF--1 .......BF-2 doesn't provide support for the BF--1 ...BF--2 provides another factor for the rise so it opposes the BF--1

E. The first is an opinion that the argument seeks to evaluate; the second provides evidence that opposes that opinion.
BF--1 is the opinion that arguments evaluate ,BF--2 provides a factor for the rise of the gross domestic product so it contradicts the BF--1 (correct)

FIRST: Experts give credit to the government policies alone for the recent rise in country’s gross domestic product.

SECOND: Positive global economic trends led to great foreign direct and indirect investments

Let's analyse each option.

A. The first is not the main conclusion. The second is only a fact and does not seem to oppose the first.

B. The first is not the main conclusion. The second is only a fact and does not seem to support the first.

C. Only the second supports the main point that the argument seeks to establish.

D. The first is not a claim that the argument seeks to establish; the second doesn't provide evidence in support of the first.

E. The first is an opinion that the argument seeks to evaluate; the second provides evidence that opposes that opinion.

Lets evaluate the structure of the argument-

--Experts give credit to the government policies alone for the recent rise in country’s gross domestic product.

Clearly a factual statement. Dont see it concluding anything.Espescially when you read the whole paragraph

--A deeper analysis will suggest that during the period under consideration, positive global economic trends led to great foreign direct and indirect investments and falling price of crude oil led to the reduced cost of imports and more affordable operations for a significant proportion of public and private sector enterprises.

The author here seems to give an alternate opinion for the improvement in the economy/gdp. The boldface is one evidence, among others that together refute the opinion of the Experts

Answer has to be E

E. The first is an opinion that the argument seeks to evaluate; the second provides evidence that opposes that opinion.
