hi,
i've never posted before but i just took the test and needed to get some opinions on this.
i got a 670 (V 38, Q 44). my target schools are UC Berk and London Business School.
Will i need to retake the GMAT and try to get a higher score in order to get into those schools? I'm trying to reason out that decision now.
My background:
3.6 GPA undergrad
Wall Street working experience (will be 3-4 years of experience at the time when i apply to B Schools, currently I have one year under my belt)
References will be very strong from my firm.
What are your thoughts?
670 is a decent score. People with that score do get into your target schools. But keep in mind that your GMAT score will be average - below average for their class so your app needs to be awesome. Not that your app can be average even with 780, but you will need to work extra hard to lure them into offering you a spot. It all depends on what you write in the app and take to the interview. I think that you might be under a little less pressure with a higher GMAT score. The point is that you should push every aspect on which admission is based to as high a level as you can. If you are willing to put in time and effort, you can improve your score since you anyway plan to apply 2 yrs down the line. With a 730+, you will be more confident and that will reflect in the rest of your app too.
Take a break for a while and then start preparing again if you do plan to retake.
