Thanks very much to this forum, I was lucky to score a 760 on the GMAT yesterday.
However, I was a bit disappointed as this was lower than my last 4 official practice tests - so I know I am capable of more. I also knew I was not
performing my best (I didn't sleep as well as I hoped to, the test center was a bit busier and disorienting than I imagined).
Thus, I'm debating cancelling my score during the 72 hour window and retaking, knowing I could in theory reinstate my score if I were
to do worse the second time around (which I wouldn't expect to, but you never know). I wouldn't plan on studying more, other than brushing
up to stay fresh; I think the benefit would be walking in with a clear head knowing what to expect. I also know I'm in the territory where it could
look bad to retake, but it's hard not to knowing I walked out feeling like I could have done better.
Is there a way for a school to know if I reinstate and automatically submit a cancelled score (i.e. the date on the score report or some other factor?)
Thanks very much!
Hi
gmatfun12 ,
That's a fantastic score and cancelling such scores could be THE BIGGEST mistake anyone can do.
I understand that you are aiming for more than this and you can always opt for another try and score a better one.
But consider the fact that what if due to some reasons, you don't end up this score again?
Ideally I believe you don't even need to give another try as you are already at par for all the top schools but if you still wanna give it a try, you can show them that you scored 760 and then you got 800.
This will show your dedication to joining that school.
Therefore, please donot cancel this score friend.
All the best for your application process.
