Re: Knewton Tests [#permalink]
In my experience and from what I've read on the forum Knewton CATS are harsh on your quant score and too nice on your verbal.

I used to finish my Knewotn Verbal sections with up to 15 minutes left and scored in the 99th percentile on my last CAT (also about 15 min early)... on sunday I scored in the 77th percentile for verbal on a MGMAT test with no time left over - doesn't make much sense... on other MGMATs I have never scored above 93% and have never had time left over. (Josh I messaged you about this, any news?)

Quant on the other hand seems a bit harsh, I never scored above 43% on quant on Knewton CATS, but I consistenly scored about 70% on the MGMAT exams....

Having said that - I think the questions are fantastic, I am currently doing the OG and I feel like I have already seen 90% of the questions - Knewton did a good job mirroring Original questions I am quite a bit relieved, I thought the OG was going to be a pandoras box of sorts, I didn't really know what to expect!

In their courses they offers 5 full test.
I don't think that they offer the test alone.
You can also take a free-trial test. I strongly recommend this test because is free and you can see how Knewton works.

Re: Knewton Tests [#permalink]
I got Q50 on quant with just one wrong answer and that too was 9th question.

I want to ask you why q50? as it is scaled on 60 and with just one wrong answer it should have been atleast q51 as q51 is the highest shown.

Moreover on verbal i got v25 which was i think rightly calculated as 2 times 4 consecutive answers were wrong with total of 19 incorrect.
I m currently working on my verbal part and I have not given any other diagnostic test. Thus I would like to ask Knewton staff, though i know my quant is better than verbal but scoring good on knewton quant is a good indication of having better performance on real gmat or knewton quant was relatively easy?

Good score gurpreetsingh

I have 48 and 47 in two previous GMAT. Howevver, in Knewton I scored 41 and 37, don't tell me why. with no more than 7 question wrong. And for my some question are no too complicated, however there are some with a lot of time consuming.
My verbal was also my weak part and I have improved a lot I think with the Knewton course.
Did you finish the course?

No , it was a trial test. I m preparing on my own. I have time constraint so pursuing a course along with my full time work on client site is nearly impossible for me.

Thanks for your collective interest in Knewton.

We offer 5 CATS, one of which you can take for free in our 7-Day Trial.

There is no penalty if you finish the test early (though we suggest that you take your time!).

Again, the Knewton tests are designed to mimic your would-be performance on test day. We spend a lot of time and effort perfecting our CATs. Any large discrepancies might be due to the fact that you answered easier questions incorrect.

Happy to answer other questions.

Cheers,
Josh

Re: Knewton Tests [#permalink]
As for me, I think that in Knewton tests math part is really harder than the real one. For example, I never got Quant score over 42 (though I scored 48 on real test). One time I even got 33.
--
As for Verbal part, diagnostic test showed Verbal Score = 35 (which is exactly the same score from the real one). I hope that my improvements in that part (from 35 to 38) will be reflected in actual GMAT result. :)

Again, the Knewton CAT is designed to mimic the actual GMAT. So no, our Quant Section is not harder than that of the real test.

Knewton CATs [#permalink]
Hey everyone,

I'm just wondering what is everyone's opinion on the Knewton tests. On my first official GMAT I scored a 630 (this was 2 months ago and I was getting ~600 in my practice tests)

Now I have taken three Knewton CATs and I've gotten some odd results.

On my first two Knewton CATs I scored 530 and 540 respectively (my quant score was lower than usual, the verbal score was almost spot on with my official test). My quant score was the same on both tests.

On my third test I scored a 490 (which was quite disheartening since it seems I'm getting worse o_O) but the odd part about it is that I got very few verbal questions wrong (less than half of the questions I got wrong on the first two tests) yet my verbal score was much lower than on the first two tests and the quant score was exactly the same as the first two tests.

am I missing something?

Re: Knewton Tests Knewton CAT Tests [#permalink]
Hi!
I took the Knewton Free CAT today
This is how i performed:

Verbal:
37 correct, 5 incorrect. score = 43 (96 percentile)

Quant:
34 correct, 3 incorrect. score = 49 (87 percentile) (I marked wrong answers for ques 9, ques 36 and ques 37)

Overall = 750 (99 percentile)

Please clarify the following:

1) In quants, GMAT prep awarded me 51 for 4 incorrect ques, 50 for 7 incorrect ques. How does the scoring method for Knewton works? Do I have to answer all questions correctly to get a 51??

2) Was it because of the 2 wrong answers at the end of quants, that I got 49?? Does finishing a section with a right answer matter so much.

3) What is level of difficulty of Knewton's free CAT compared to the actual GMAT. I need this information in order to decide whether to go for the paid course or not. I have taken 6 MGMAT CATs, which I found to be tough compared to GMAT prep

I can't answer your question as I have not taken any of the Knewton CATs

But I was wondering, what were you scoring on the MGMT CATs?
