I do not see any non-sensical/awkward meaning for sentence C.
Sure it changes from the meaning in sentence A, but how do we identify what is the meaning intended by the author?

I think meaning is the most important factor for this question.

(A) Laura stated in her home that she had all the comforts of life
Correct.

(B) Laura stated that she had, in her home, all the comforts of life
Change meaning. The meaning is Laura had all comforts in her home.

(C) Laura stated that she had all the comforts of life in her home
Same as B.

(D) It was stated by Laura in her home that she had all the comforts of life there
"It" is not clear.

(E) Her home had all the comforts of life was stated by Laura
Passive voice is not necessary. Meaning is changed.
