I have an example I'm writing about, but I can spin it in a way that shows my leadership and teamwork.

The questions asks for leadership and/or teamwork....

The thing is it sounds so boastful when I try to explain my leadership through this example, but it sounds like I'm a humble team player if I spin it with a teamwork angle.

I would say it depends on these two factors:
1. More Important: How do your other essays paint you - leader or team player? If the other essays paint you as a dynamic leader, then balance it out by writing about what a great team player also you are.
2. Les Important: The nature of the school you are applying to (HBS - no brainer, leadership. Kellogg - team player)

Hope that helped.
