(1) Linda packed 30 percent of the total number of boxes of books.

(2) Robert packed 10 more boxes of books than Pat did.

Guys answer is C since we are looking at RATIO not at number of books.
Let say we have 100 books.
L - 30
R - x+10
P - x
30+x+10+x=100 => x=30
R/P=40/30=4/3

What if we have 200 boxes

linda packed 60 boxes

between 140 boxes, Robert packed 75 and Pat packed 65 (total=140)
ratio = 75/65 = 15/13 which is not equal to 4/3

So, we need to know the total # of books in order to find the ratio as it will vary. I think if (2) had said "B) Robert packed 10% more boxes of books than Pat did" then we could have gone your route.

Answer is E. Since the relationship between the boxes and the books is not established in the question.

Not sure of the rank of this question. Maybe a sub-600 category question.

I would say it is some where between 500- 600. I could be wrong though..

1 is obviously not sufficient since it speaks about linda 2 .says R = P+10 not sufficient cant get R/p combine them since linda packed 30 percent therefore r and P packed 70 percent ..let total no be x R + P = .7x from statement 2 p+10 + P = .7x cant still find P and hence cant find r E
