Premise: Literary geniuses known for their sad poetry have unusually high suicidal tendencies. A new medicine has been proven to be able to cure such tendencies by easing the feeling of sadness;
Conclusion: however, any use of such medicine by these literary geniuses will be a loss to the poetic world.

Pre-thinking - this could happen, if reducing sadness impact they writing skills of sad poetry.

A. Literary geniuses know for their sad poetry differ in the intensity of their suicidal tendencies. [the intensity is not in the scope of the argument]
B. The medicine directly impacts the poetic creativity of an individual. [ here are we concerned with the Literary genius not any individual. Also, our focus is on sad poetry not any poetry. A very tempting option, but incorrect]
C. The sadness felt by the literary geniuses contributes to the poetic value of their work. [ This shows that sadness is related to the "value of work", which indirectly points to fact that if sadness reduces, the value of the work will reduce] - Correct Answer
D. The medicine can alter suicidal tendencies to different extents in different individuals. [ We are not concerned with different individuals - Out of Scope]
E. Suicidal tendecies are not present in people who do not write sad poetry. [ We are not concerned with people who don't write sad poetry - Out of Scope]

B wrong because of its narrow scope.

C is the correct one.
It is because of the sadness,they are able to create such epic work.
No sadness , no epic work.
