Grrrrrrr....I'm not convinced with the OA
I'll post the OA after sometime, let's discuss.

has....does....

I`ll choose (B), but surely this sentence must be tricky otherwise Vivek wouldn`t have singled it out.

B. the comparision should say "any other" that means all cities except San Antonio, Texas.
if we say other cities, it includes San Antonio, Texas too and we cannot compare San Antonio, Texas with cities including San Antonio, Texas.

Huh...well the OA is B but here is my problem.
"has" & "does" can't go parallel. It's wrong!

If the sentence was like this: "Texas houses more restaurants than any other city does"......It's absolutely correct.

BUT "Texas has more restaurants than any other city does" is WRONGGGGGG!

I suck at Verbal but I think B is right... has can go with does, like have can go with do

Can anyone explains why C is wrong... Again, I suck at verbal

i think you are thinking beyond GMAT SC. B is the best among the available ACs but may not be the ideal one.

not sure whether "has" and "does" go togather...

Has and Does go together when has is used in the possessive sense.

e.g. she has excellent collection of books.

Thanks guys,

But I can bet anytime on has || does. It's not at all convincing. How can has/have be same as (or replace) does/do????

Eg: She has books, he also does.
What does "does" signify here? does = has? Impossible.

However, I agree with professor, it's the case of best of the rest.

Why do you put "books" in blue? We have nothing to do with the object. We are dealing with the tense of the verb.

Oops, sorry, corrected the coloring mistake

Meanwhile I'll talk to Paul, this has been quite inconvincing to me.

Let's proceed methodically.
We need "any other city" in order to compare San Antonio to other cities but itself. In this example, only B fits the bill.

Now, I don't understand why you say that "has" cannot be parallel with "does"? "does" is used as a substitute to avoid repetition of any verb, including "have".

Consider this example:
My parents have bought a house in Texas just as any of my friends' parents have[did].

You can certainly replace "have" here with "did" to avoid repetition although I do see the nuance you are referring to; "have" is passive while "do" is active. However, for repetition' sake and to obtain a better syntax, I would replace "has" with "does" here. In any case, we all agree that by POE, only B stands

B

Well chosing the best choice is what GMAT all about, not necessarily the best or ideal one.
