The problem of having a dream school like LBS is the fear that the dream can be taken away. Anyone got any back-up plans if they don't get in? I am pretty stumped as to what I will do, probably will have to reassess my plans. Anyone know what the percentage is for people who interview who then get offers?

Their admissions rep at an event I attended told me that they interview about 30% of all applicants and accept about 75% of interviewees (including those taken from the waitlist)

Great info, thanks!

I have ~5 years work experience, but no international experience, and I got an invite. But I'm keen to get international exposure and I mentioned that in my application. I think that's what they're after.

Good luck!

Does anyone know the process for interview scheduling? Invited candidates will be contacted within a few days by the respective admissions representative, right?

I haven't responded to my email invite.....

Received an invite yesterday. Was contacted by my regional admissions manager today telling me that she would be matching me with an alum soon. After that, we have to contact the alum directly to set up an interview before 7th March.
Best of luck everyone!

As I suspected. Haven't heard from my regional admissions manager and so wanted to be sure. Thanks!

Anyone know if its worth applying to LBS in round 3? A friend at LBS said I'd have a legit shot, but I'm curious of people's opinions on LBS R3 in this thread. Thanks in advance .

I asked that question to an admissions manager because I was unsure if I should apply to round 2 or 3.I believe you still have good chances. The admissions manager answered me that there are many places available in the third round otherwise they wouldn't also have a fourth round. I applied to R2 anyway since I thought my application was already competitive and didn't want to delay it any further. Happily got invited to the interview Good luck for you!!

When did the admissions manager give that info? Just to know how current is that info!! It seems to me a bit optimistic but if that's true that's terrific news )

Does anyone have experience with rejections and reapplying? Also, regarding feedback on your application, the rejection email said that they will not be able to provide personal feedback but I've read online on blogs/forums that some people have gotten feedback. In fact, in one of LBS' promotional videos, a student talks about personal feedback she received regarding her insufficient work experience. This was the rejection email I received:

Quote:
Thank you for submitting your application for a place on London Business School’s Full-time MBA Programme commencing in August 2014 (MBA2016).

Members of the MBA Admissions Committee have now carefully considered your application. It is with regret that we have been asked to inform you that they are not able to offer you a place on our MBA Programme this year.

Please note that the MBA Admissions Committee’s current decision is confidential. We are unfortunately unable to provide individual feedback, but have included some general feedback below.

Our applicant pool has been of an extremely high calibre this year, and consequently competition has been very rigorous. We are sorry to disappoint you in this instance, but hope you will consider one of the options detailed below.

Should I still try my luck and ask for personal feedback? They did include a general feedback for applicants where they explained why I might have been rejected (lower than avg of 695 GMAT, poor undergrad performance, lack of international experience were reasons given. and that they're looking for lively, enquiring minds. I'd like to think I'm inquisitive, i do have international experience in work and study, but yeah, I have 680 GMAT and my undergrad grades are all over the place.) and said that they would personally invite candidates that should reapply (i wasn't invited to reapply) and that perhaps, executive education would be of interest to me (it certainly is not suitable for my career goals). I really loved what I have found out about LBS from visits to the school and speaking to a few students with similar background and/or similar goals. I would like to reapply but their blanket statement that they can't give personal feedback leaves me at a disadvantage. Has anyone here received a different rejection letter? Does anyone have experience getting personal feedback even though they say that they do no provide any?

Have you visited LBS? They hold Q&A sessions for the MBA programme twice a week I guess and if you have the chance (don't know where you from)
probably it'd be a good idea to go there and ask the admissions manager to speak in private after the session. I went there in September and in the end a few students were going to talk with him privately. Before you go to the school state your situation to the Admissions Manager and ask for private advice and maybe he/she will be receptive to do so. The point is if you really want to study at LBS don't lose hope and fight for it.

Good luck!!!

Does anyone know anything about getting student or alumni recommendations? The application asks if a student or alum has filled out the form, but I didn't see a form for this purpose. This page indicates that this form is separate from the regular references: http://www.vinceprep.com/schools/london

Did you end up doing more research on R3? Any more sources you heard back from?

I don't have much knowledge about lbs. Just trying to figure out how things are in EU schools.

Thanks

my friend at lbs told me he knows people who called up the admissions office two weeks before class started, said they were interested (and asked the adcom to make an exception for them), submitted an app, and actually got in. also, he was able to find the student recommendation form somewhere at lbs. whether r3 is viable or not, i've decided i am unable to apply earlier, so i will apply r3 and just hope for the best.
