Long term HBS plan( when to apply)

I’m developing a 2-3 year game plan for HBS( though I hate east coast weather) and would appreciate any advice. My main concern is application timing due to age vs. work exp. I think I have a decent shot but I’m unsure on when would be ideal to apply. Fall of 06 would give me 3 years work experience and I’ll be 28 then.
Background:
B.A. at a U.C. in Economics ( 3.5 GPA)
One year working at a big 5 accounting firm
Then back to school for a MA in Econ at the same U.C. (3.95) GPA
Currently I’m working at a big 4 management consulting firm in a group with excellent opportunities for advancement.
I need to work on three areas:
GMAT: My current plan is to prep for the GMAT and take it in the fall of 05. GRE was 710-790( though I think the GMAT is more difficult) I’m aiming for 700+
Work: My work exp. has big names and should be o.k.. I’ll be at the level that my firm recruits MBAs to start at and I should have a leadership role.
Extra Curricular: None to speak of but I’m working on it.
If I apply in 06, I’ll only have 3 years work experience under my belt. If I wait till 07 then I’ll have stronger experience and hopefully a stronger Extra-curricular component.
I want to get an MBA in order to transition from MC to a more entrepreneurial role i.e. start-up, VC, etc.
I guess my question is when would I be most competitive? Should I plan on 06 and then reapply in 07?
Thank you for any advice. I just found this forum and hope to get involved here.
