Anyone here who has studied from GMATbusters?
If you want to work on your quant, get TTP, it’s real good.

Here is the question

there-are-100-students-in-a-school-the-students-are-split-158096.html?fl=notifications#p2818469

I’m trying to understand how a maximum value for an overlapping sets problem is found out

I did not quite get what Karishma from Veritas mentioned. Any clarification is appreciated

FORMULA USED BY GMATGURU-A useful formula for 3 overlapping groups:

T = A + B + C - (AB + AC + BC) - 2(ABC)

I saw your post as well, however, I did not get the doubt.

Alright, so there are two posts

In this one, overlapping-sets-made-easy-205636.html -> Refer to the problem with TV, MP3 and cassettes

This problem is similar to the problem with the teams and hence I referred to it in my post for there-are-100-students-in-a-school-the-students-are-split-158096.html?fl=notifications#p2818469

Basically in the one with TV,MP3 and cellphone problem, Karishma just used the smallest set to be common to both households having cellphones and tv and this way we get a maximum number of households with 3 items as 55

But, in the same problem with teams, we do not follow the same procedure. If we did, we would have 70 as the answer. But that is not the case.

I do understand how others reached at the conclusion after following their posts, but I am trying to understand whats different between these 2 problems

As they both look similar to me

I am able to understand the method they derived 55; I cannot understand the 10 (Minimum)

Maximum can be derived from the formula posted by GMATGuru

Hey all, by when do you think one should be ready with a gmat score if he/she is targeting for R1 in Indian colleges?

Bro I have used the formula for Maximum, for minimum, just hit and trial seems the best way

Earlier the better, but let’s say you have to work of your 2 essays and 2 other docs, so that can take upto 2-4 weeks. So with this assumption, for R1 (September 1st week), getting a score by the end of July would be great for you. Also, if you didn’t score well, you can retake in 20 days or so.

thanks, i kind of have the same mindset because I think there are 1-2 straightforward downsides of writing the GMAT multiple time- i) $250 everytime you write ii) at tops you can give only 8 times in life right?
