Hi All,
I just gave my GMAT ended up with poor score of 500. Though my score during mock test remained the same such as MGMAT2 550 MGMAT3 540 GMAT prep 530. Actually I was planning for reschedule, but i got late for that. They are charging the same amount as that was for GMAT Test fee. So i thought of taking exam rather than to cancel it.
I started my prep in April, but couldn't focus much because of my job responsibilities. I joined one coaching center started my prep with CR bible, Manhattan SC, RC. Gone through
OG. My tutors helped me and cleared my concepts, they were really helpful, they solved the problem with me, helped me to develop my understanding for the questions. I gave
MGMAT in july where I ended up with 450 and GMAT prep 1 with 430. So i postponed my plan for taking Date. I kept my studies on. Also started some physical exercises like Running, to boost my concentration level.
Finally in September I decided to take my date and choose October 18 for it. Initially I got around 55o in
MGMAT so I worked more on my verbal and quant, and hoped for crossing 650 by end. But that didn't happened, a day before actual exam my mock test score was same. Rescheduling and cancelling were not good options at that point. Thinking like Spartan I decided to go for exam.
During Actual Exam.
I reached at centre 2 hours before my appointment. I gone through few problems from
OG just to give warmup to my brain.
Exam begin, AWA was fine and then Integrated reasoning though didn't bother much about it, completed the section on time.
Quant began, in starting I crumbled with few questions but it was going fine, no tensions I was calm and composed. Completed quant section before 7 minutes in hand. Took short break of 2 minutes, returned and carried my attack on verbal. In verbal as well I remain calm i was doing the question as I studied with all my understanding. I was using the concepts what I learnt from CR Bible and Manhattan. RC was ok. So I never felt anything out of scope. I carried on with my attitude being calm and composed. Last three questions 4 minutes in hand. I took more time on second last question, so I missed to answer last question.
In the end I saw my score at 500. nothing unfounded as i knew where I was.
Spoke to my father back at room. Begin my prep again.
During mock tests: My quant section always remain incomplete, I never finished it during any mock test. last 2-3 questions always remained unanswered.
As for verbal portion is concerned. I always complete this section quite early. Like 8 minutes before.
Critical reasoning portion was fine I used to answer it with 50-70 seconds and mostly right. SCs I complete that in 50-80 seconds, right : wrong ratio :: 1:3.
RCs it depends, it kept varying.
Now I begin my prep.
To start with, I took
OG, going and reviewing every question, also choices. If choice is wrong why wrong etc. Checking explanation and noting take away for every question. In between also going through Aristotle SC grail.
For quant section, though I am clear with my basic, also I am from Engineering back ground, but still I am uncomfortable with some 600-700 and 700 to 800 questions. Unable to find any good resource so just going through question from GMAT Club, soon I will find good alternative.
Hopefully with this approach I will do much better this time.
Let me know if you have any advise for me.
