In the office supply store, Brittany bought 17 pens of three kinds: ball pens, gel pens, and ink pens, which cost $0.05, $0.10 and $0.25 each. The total that Brittany paid was $2.05. If Brittany bought twice as many gel pens as ink pens, how many ball pens did she buy?

A. 4
B. 5
C. 7
D. 8
E. 10

X – Ball Pen
Y – Gel Pen
Z – Ink Pen
X+y+z = 17
0.05x + 0.10y + 0.25z = 2.05
5x + 10y + 25z = 205
X + 2y + 5z = 41
=> Y + 4z = 24
Now, y = 2z
=> 6z = 24
=> Z = 4 , y = 8
=> X = 17 – 12 = 5
=> Answer - B

If \(ab \ne 0\) and \(|a| \lt |b|\) , which of the following must be negative?

\(\frac{a}{b} - \frac{b}{b}\)
\(\frac{a - b}{a + b}\)
\(a^b - b^a\)
\(a \frac{b}{a - b}\)
\(\frac{b - a}{b}\)

OA: b

OE uses algebraic approach. I tried using number testing to solve. But could not come up with a number plug that could prove (A) false .....please suggest some value to prove A wrong.
