The question is perfectly fine and stands as one of the best and most challenging, actually. Your concern has already been thoroughly addressed in the thread. Instead of repeating what has already been written there, I advise you to take a moment to review it more carefully.
I have read the entire discussion and understand the point of reasoning which lead me to say my observation. Sure, there are tricky ways of phrasing questions in GMAT, but I think this one is just phrased incorrecty. This could be phrased as for every 2 snakes TAKEN/ PICKED from the box. The way the sentence is VAGUE and could lead to multiple interpretation.
