largest integer smaller than x is x-1
the question essentially is, Is x-1 > -x -1 (which is the largest integer smaller than -x)
which becomes .... 2x > 0, and finally Is x>0

1. x = x-1 + 1, x=x (insufficient)
2. x+1 > 0 , x>-1 (insufficient)
and both are simply insufficient together.

I hope the main question which needed to be answered from only the question stem is that whether x is positive or negative (x>0 [2]=1 [-2]=-3 [2]>[-2] (yes) x<0 [-2]=-3 [2]=1 [-2]<[2] (no) and also if x=0 [0]=[-0]=-1 data(no))
As per the two statements we are not said x is either + or - or 0 but any combination.
So as per initial question stem analysis if any statement is differentiating between either + or - or -,0 then we would be able to say that data is suffice.
