A rectangle is inscribed in a circle of diameter 2. Which of the following can be the area of the rectangle?

I. 0.01

II. 2.00

III. 3.20

(C) 2008 GMAT Club - m24#5

If the rectangle is narrow enough, its area can be 0.01. If the rectangle is a square, its area is 2. However, the area of the rectangle cannot exceed the area of the circle which is $$\pi\text{(radius)}^2 = \pi$$ .

How are they coming up with 0.01 figure for area?
