Major airplane fuel companies are raising the price of their fossil-based fuel to encourage airliners to purchase the companies' bio-fuel, reducing harmful emissions in the long run. However, critics note that using this bio-fuel requires restructuring engines and fueling infrastructure, and so ti is unreasonable to expect airlines to start using bio-fuel in response to an increase in fossil-based fuel prices.

Considering the critics' point, which of the following if true, would best support the prediction that fuel companies will most likely succeed in reducing harmful emissions?

A) The additional revenue from the higher-priced fossil fuels will be applied to research in to "drop-in" bio-fuel that does not require changes to existing aircraft
B) The price increase will cause airliners to purchase fuel from other sources, making the market more competitive
C) Because bio-fuel is a relatively recent invention, most planes currently in use are designed to use only standard fossil-based fuel
D) Airliners can cut costs in other area in order to offset the higher cost of conventional fossil fuel
E) The airlines that can most easily afford the newly expensive fossil-based fuel are those responsible for the most harmful emissions

E) The airlines that can most easily afford the newly expensive fossil-based fuel are those responsible for the most harmful emissions

So out of A and E, which will strengthen the prediction of the fuel companies ??

Prediction -> Major airplane fuel companies are raising the price of their fossil-based fuel to encourage airliners to purchase the companies' bio-fuel, reducing harmful emissions in the long run.

B) The price increase will cause airliners to purchase fuel from other sources, making the market more competitive
other sources -> irrelevant

C) Because bio-fuel is a relatively recent invention, most planes currently in use are designed to use only standard fossil-based fuel
This does not strengthen the prediction

D) Airliners can cut costs in other area in order to offset the higher cost of conventional fossil fuel
offset the higher cost -> OOS

A) The additional revenue from the higher-priced fossil fuels will be applied to research in to "drop-in" bio-fuel that does not require changes to existing aircraft
This actually supports the prediction that they should buy more bio fuel.
This indeed will help in long run.

E) The airlines that can most easily afford the newly expensive fossil-based fuel are those responsible for the most harmful emissions
Ok how is affordability ensuring that the airlines will buy the fuel in the long run as well??
No way is the relationship going to strengthen the prediction.

Quote which i can relate to.
Many of life's failures happen with people who do not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
