Go for Manhattan. Check out my debrief for more details. I have explained how good they were during my preparation.

Thanks

Hi all,

I need to purchase a CAT test pack and I would like some reviews on Manhattan and Veritas prep test packs? I have exhausted all the official GMAC prep tests and so I'm looking out for an alternate choice. Would appreciate it if someone could give me some suggestions. Thanks :)
By all the official tests, do you mean the exam pack tests as well? Just checking.

You could also take a free test from both providers to check whether you like one more than the other.

AjiteshArun yes, I have used the exam packs as well. I have tried mock tests for both but still unsure. Manhattan was a bit hard IMO. but I have heard a lot of good reviews about Manhattan.

Manhattan imho. Some questions in veritas are answered by only 20-30%, and as I heard gmac uses only questions witch were answered by 50%+ of test takers

Hi nithinjohn,

The most realistic CATs available are the 6 from GMAC (the 2 free CATs, and each of the 2 that come with Exam Pack 1 and Exam Pack 2), but retaking a CAT that you've already taken is NOT a realistic way to assess your skills. Seeing even a few 'repeat' questions can 'throw off' the Algorithm and impact your pacing, energy levels, fatigue, etc. Thankfully, the CATs from Kaplan, MGMAT and Veritas are all 'close enough' to the real thing that they will provide you with a relatively realistic score assessment (assuming that you use the CAT correctly).

It's important to remember that taking lots of CATs will NOT make you a better Test Taker. A CAT is really a 'measuring device' - when used correctly, it will give you a realistic score and help define your strengths and weaknesses, but it will NOT help you to fix any of those weaknesses. To raise your scores, you have to put in the necessary practice and repetitions. The CAT will show you whether your studies are helping you to improve or not. As such, you really shouldn't take more than 1 FULL CAT per week. Based on your Score Goal and Official Score, the bigger question is what Tactics are you going to focus on learning during this next phases of your studies (so that you can EARN that higher Score on Test Day)?

Manhattan Quants are tough than real GMAT but Veritas Analytics are better than Manhattan. I have taken both of them (Only Quant CATs) so if you looking for more quant than verbal then go to Manhattan otherwise both are good

Good Luck

I have used 800score tests especially for verbal and i do not feel much good about its scoring algorithm. In verbal i was scoring consistently to the north of 42 in 800score tests. But in GMATPrep and MGMAT , my scores are lesser than that in all my tests. I believe 800score's verbal is pretty easy compared to other standardized tests.

So my take is if you are at the initial stages of your prep you can use 800score tests for practice. But you cannot use it at the end where you are trying to gauge your readiness for actual exam.

Same applies to veritas prep tests as well. Veritas prep verbal can be used for practice as a standalone verbal tests.

If you are looking for a full length mock tests before attempting GMAT Prep tests and also looking for a very standard tests to gauge your level, then MGMAT is the best. MGMAT's Quant is always on tougher side, but its also for good.

All the best for your preparation.
