Many physicists claim that quantum mechanics may ultimately be able to explain all fundamental phenomena, and that, therefore, physical theory will soon be complete. However, every theory in the history of physics that was thought to be final eventually had to be rejected for failure to explain some new observation. For this reason, we can expect that quantum mechanics will not be the final theory.

The stem argument tries to assert that whatever has happened in the past with a set of things(theories), that is failures, will continue in the present / future for the same set of things (theories)

Option A says

Here we are not talking about the same set of things that is we are comparing plant species that grew there in the past with the animals who are trying to live in the present

Talking about things that are occurring at the same time. We need past and present/future type of comparison.

Talking about different things. Initial part talks about team members individually. Second part talks about team as a whole.

Hence answer seems to be C
