Hello!

We are a married couple applying this year for 2019 matriculation. Our desire is an M7 school but would be happy to enroll in any school in the top 20. We are working very hard towards improving our current GMAT score.

Husband:

GMAT: 650
Undergrad: 3.30 GPA Finance Major (Top 10 Public University (#40th +/- overall))
Graduate: 3.86 GPA Masters in Accounting (Top 20 Public University (#50th +/- overall))
Experience: Commercial Banking with a focus in Capital Markets - Client Facing Relationship Manager (7 years)
Personal: 1st in Family to be born in the USA (Mother and Father were born in South America), 1st in Family to go to college, 1st in Family to graduate from Masters. Product of inner city schools and disadvantaged socioeconomic background (free or reduced lunch K-12).
Involvement: Volunteer to advise students from similar backgrounds on college preparation and career goals. INROADS, Posse Foundation, and Junior Achievement. I also started my own scholarship for graduating high school seniors from my high school. Influencing youth to take the right steps towards a successful future.
Post goals: Investment Bank at the same institution I am currently employed.

Wife

GMAT: 650

Undergrad: 3.87 GPA Neuroscience & Behavior Major (State University in Florida)
- Degree is very rigorous and science/math heavy. Courses such as Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Comparative Vertebrae morphology, Calculus, etc. Graduated Summa Cum Laude. This degree and major is considered Pre-Med.

Graduate: 3.67 GPA Masters in Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies (PA Program is ranked #2 in Florida (40th overall))
- Graduated With Honors. My PA program is very selective with only 75 students and the acceptance rate is 5%. The program is 27 months, full time, 39 courses and over 141 credit hours.

PA Work Experience/Description: A PA is healthcare professional who can work in any medical specialty; who diagnoses and treats disease, prescribes medications, and often serves as a patient's primary medical provider. I am a Dermatological PA, therefore my daily routine is to see 15-30 patients, whose visits consist of either full body skin checks, specific dermatological complaints (such as Psoriasis), surgical procedures (such as removal of skin cancers or precancerous lesions), or cosmetic purposes (such as lasers). I have my own patient base and work autonomously (with the support of 1-2 Medical Assistants) on a daily basis and only confer with the Physician for complicated cases.

By matriculation (August 2019) I will have accumulated 33 months of work experience.

Business fundamentals: Accepted into the June 2018 cohort of HBX CORe program offered by Harvard Business School.

Personal: Born in Berlin, Germany (I am a naturalized US Citizen) to a German Mother and Lebanese Father. Migrated to Florida in 2006 at 16 years old. 1st in Family to go to college, 1st in Family to graduate from Masters.

Involvement: Provide free skin checks and informational presentations on skin health and skin cancer prevention at several different events. Community Service for INROADS an organization that helps minorities receive internships in fortune 500 companies.

Post goals: Management Consulting with a focus on the Healthcare Industry.

Any insight on this specific situation of jointly applying would greatly help us. We will only enroll in a school in which we were both accepted. Thank you!

Thank you!

Hi ApplicantMT,

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your profile. You both have interesting backgrounds that I would like to get to know further. When it comes to couple applicants, M7 and Top20 schools don't typically offer "package" admissions; you both will be evaluated on your own merits. I recommend, however, that you apply to universities in similar geographic regions, so you increase your chances. Indeed, the M7s and Top 20 have higher average GMAT scores, so anything you can do to improve your score would benefit your candidacy. When are you scheduled to retake the GMAT?

You both have unique profiles, so I recommend spending time on your individual profiles, making them as authentic to the individual as possible. Work on what you can control, which is the lens through which you tell your personal stories.

If you would like to continue the conversation, please feel free to reach out and schedule a free consultation (contact details in signature)

Good luck!
