I have the same feeling. However, I received a great scholarship from Fisher and a not great one from Rotman.
As an international, money makes me wonder if the change is not the best path here. And for someone who wants to stay at supply chain, I dont know if Fisher's brand is not better.

Lets say that I receive a good new from Tepper, in your opinion should I change from Rotman to Tepper?

Thanks!

Let me put it this way =>
Unless you get a full ride at Top 10 schools => Rotman would still be better.
Rotman is the best MBA school in Canada.
My by best MBA program => I mean the very best.

MONEY MATTERS -->

I understand that money is an issue for all internationals like myself.
But you have to take into account that after graduating from Tepper/Fisher => There is a good chance that you might have to return to you home country due to the VISA restrictions.
It all depends on how you perceive that.
Canada on the other hand has extremely friendly VISA rules.So a big big plus here.

JOB Prospects -->
Next, in terms of sheer job prospects => Rotman is a Powerhouse as compared to Tepper/Fisher.
Strong Foothold.
Honestly, everything else aside i would still choose Rotman.
I really don't undertand why would someone Tepper over Rotman.
Don't get me wrong,Tepper is an excellent school.
But as compared to Rotman => A++++++ >A++

International Regulations -->
H1-B is in a mess right now.

Read this post of a current Tepper student on H1-B => https://gmatclub.com/forum/h-1b-visa-ch ... l#p1837564

Read the entire thread.
After reading that entire thread i am sure you will fly to Canada.

Personal Opinion =>

Money is always a BIG obstacle for us Internationals.
But if I was offered Rotman -> I would take that loan knowing that i made a decision to pursue an MBA from one of the BEST schools in the World.
Certainly the Best in Canada.
I would feel extremely confident of getting my Dream Job.
On the other hand -->Given the current political scene in the US--> I must confess,I would not be that confident taking even a small loan.

So,Unless I had an offer from M7 (with $$$), I would go to ROTMAN.
Can never go wrong with that.
I hope it helps

Regards
Stone Cold

Hi rma26

I have not included work experience in the ranking table; where did you see that? :-) The number you are referring is perhaps average GPA, not work experience.

BTW, the data shown in our ranking table is taken from US News MBA rankings, so there can be some variation between stats shown in our ranking table and those on mba.com.

Yeah I think most people hold the Economist and FT rankings in pretty low regard.

Frankly anyone who doesn't think the rankings go H/S/W every year is pretty suspect. The yield and starting salaries tell the tale of which schools students and employers value the most.

All these rankings are pretty debatable. I would put this way:

1 - Harvard - no question about it, will open doors anywhere in the world.
2 - Stanford - (I personally would attend Stanford rather than Harvard).
3 - Wharton - Most of the class was dinged by H/S.
4,5,6 - MIT / Kellogg / Chicago - not in any particular order, depends much on your future career goals.
7 - Columbia - the "M7".
8 - Tuck
9 - Berkeley
10 - [Choose one] :P

I tend to share this view, with the exception that I would probably give H/S at a tie at #1 and Tuck/Haas a tie at #8. Most people will go to Harvard over Stanford, and Tuck over Haas, but these schools each have their own unique strengths. In today's environment, I'd probably put Michigan at #10, largely due to the very well-rounded career placement of Ross graduates.

Can't wait till I can find out how many places my school fell below Southern Methodist University.

My prediction is that YSOM will fall further in the ranking and schools like U of Phoenix and DeVry will be above YSOM....

Yeah, it is kind of absurd. Thankfully, employers don't spend as much time looking at these things as we, their future employees, do.

This is what makes little sense to me. According to Businessweek, SMU was the WORST bschool for recession placement. So why on earth would that school have a large increase in rankings and how on earth would that lead to large student satisfaction? Doesn't matter how great my professors are; if I don't get a job, I will be angry as hell. Seems like businessweek's rankings are absolutely nonsensical. So ignore them altogether.

One of the biggest reasons to attend an MBA program is to learn from your peers. You lose 135 years of knowledge in an HBS section of 90 students compared to most other schools. That seems pretty significant, but doesn't seem to hurt their standing at the top.

I definitively agree with the statement above. H/S become younger and one loses a tone of experience if admitted to younger class/interacting with younger peers. just my few cents.

However, here is hidden part of the coin: H/S MBA alumni are younger than average MBA alumni so their life-long earnings are higher <-this may partially explain why gradutaes of H/S earn more in average.

I have to disagree with what you said a bit.

The student body doesn't lose that much if the class has an avg of 3-4 years of experience; after 2 good years of experience, you are not bringing much in an MBA setting. You may want to look for an Executive MBA then. MBA is positioning you in a leadership position, and the schools are picking those who have shown skills, interest, and desire to do so. Harvard and Stanford get the best applicants with 3-4 years of experience (usually the "best" work experience), therein the average of their class. In visits at multiple schools- Harvard, MIT and Tuck- the admission person would often say that after 2 years, it really does not matter, they can see the picture: you are either interested and capable at being a leader or you are not.

The reality is, most applicants, would show their interest and capabilities at being a leader -aka taking leadership positions after 3-4 years of experience at your job usually. Because of that most schools have a higher average.

Hi,

I have a question. Is the age, the age when you begin your MBA, or it is the age when you are admitted ?
