I submitted my application today but I am sure I messed up the GIAC part. The McCombs application is just extremely unfriendly.

Can someone please tell me what exactly they've done for the GIAC part of the application? I just entered basic information but I was never prompted to upload my transcripts or my GMAT/TOEFL scores. The display was also very weird/cheap. Finally an 'MBA' option was not available when I had to enter the program I was applying for (instead I chose MBA double degree, thinking it was a mistake).

McCombs has to work with the larger, University of Texas during this application process, which is why you have to upload your transcript to an additional website. Once you have paid the application fee, you will be able to upload your transcript to the GIAC website. You will not need to upload your GMAT/TOEFL scores until you have been admitted and accepted your offer. The option you choose on the GIAC website for your degree description is not incredibly important -what you put is fine.

I am wondering if McCombs is anyone's first choice? It seems to be a very popular safety school for a lot of people on gmatclub. I checked a few older discussions about the school and a lot of people receiving offers from McCombs are just waiting to hear from higher-ranked schools before accepting an offer. In the "McCombs 2012 - Calling all applicants" discussion the admission statistics graph (where color dots are plotted) is just ridiculous. You've got 2 matriculating for maybe 20 admitted!

McCombs is my first choice but I really worry about going to a school that people are not excited about.

McCombs is definitely my first choice. I had visited McCombs as well as couple of other schools but simply fell in love with it.
Applying for R1 and looking forward to be there next year.

It seems I have been short listed for interview. I haven't received any notification but my application page shows that I am selected for an interview. This is really quick. :)
Anyone else?
Any suggestion for offsite interview, skype/in person as I could find only one alumini close to my location.

Last year, UT sent out virtually all the R1 interview invites on the same day (Nov. 8th). I wonder if Oct. 18th represents that day, or if they're trying for more of a staggered approach this year. I have a hard time imagining they got through ~ 1,000 applications in the three days since the Oct. 16th deadline.

The admissions committee begins reviewing applications as soon as they are received, thus the quick turnaround after the round 1 deadline. There is no preference as to how you choose to conduct your interview. If it is not convenient to travel to campus for your interview, locating an alumni close to you is the next best option. Interviews conducted via Skype are really only for those applicants that have no other options.

To the people who received interview invites, what date did you submit your application? Considering I sent mine in on Oct. 8th and haven't received an invite, I think I may be in trouble.

There is no specific order in which the Admissions Committee reviews applications and not all interview invites have been released. Continue to check the status of your application!

Done with my interview today. it was with an alumini in my city, very conversational in nature. She was very kind in not letting me feel at any point of time that it was admission interview. The interview wasn't blind, she was aware of my profile and resume. Good luck to everyone else.
