@Gmatninja, Experts,

Could you please explain why option E is correct.

Also could you give any similar examples to the construction in the correct option, specifically, the more than do part : Meteoriticists acknowledge the contribution of amateur explorers *more than do* archaeologists and paleontologists who fear the destruction of excavation sites

A and C are out as comparison is wrong
B *can* shd follow the nouns
D acknowledge is the action and it can't describe another action

Thus E
PS: I am beginner too ...hope the explanation is correct

The answer is E since we have to compare the contribution of amateur explorers to that of contribution of paleontologist. Only E clarifies this.

Hi kunal1608 ,

Here I go:

Meteorocists acknowledge the contribution of amateur explorers more than archaeologists and paleontologists who fear the destruction of excavation sites.

A) acknowledge the contribution of amateur explorers more than --> It means they are acknowledging contribution more than they are acknowledging archaeologists. This is not the intended meaning.

B) can acknowledge the contribution of amateur explorers more than can --> Can usage changes the meaning.

C) acknowledge amateur explorers for their contribution more than --> It implies they acknowledge explorers for contribution than for archaeologists and paleontologists. nonsensical.

D) acknowledge the contributing of amateur explorers more than do --> Contributing is incorrect.

E) acknowledge the contribution of amateur explorers more than do --> It means they acknowledge the contribution more than what archaeologists and paleontologists acknowledge. Hence, correct.
