Metallica fan is right.... 'it' in GMATland replaces only nouns and not actions....
C is incorrect because of 'such'... A is out bcoz of 'it'....

I agree present perfect changes the meaning but wouldn't "devoted" mean he is now dead, or done working.

And I thought since we don't know that, we need to use present perfect.
