I think I might start applying from MIT. Its not my first choice, but I wont mind getting in either. Is it true about them wanting the GRE now ? Thats rubbish, I just spent 1 and a half months studying for the GMAT .....

MIT requires either GMAT or GRE. You dont need both.

The way the MIT questions are structured, if you truly have a really good story to tell, you'll be given a chance to really shine. If you don't have 5+ gripping stories to tell, it's gonna be tough.

My current job is somewhat repetitive and doesn't give a lot of opportunity for innovation, and so I really struggled with this app. Result: ding w/o interview.

Everyone thinks their essays will be above average. If you actually will be above average, then go for it, MIT is a great school.

G'clubbers: I can't stress enough the following: if you are applying to MIT, do visit. They care about visiting much more than other schools do.

Thanks for the info. I just looked at the website, and the essay questions are still the same as in 2007. Are they going to change them or is the application identical ?

i visited MIT in March. it was kind of a waste because it was informal and i didnt get to talk to anybody. better to do an official visit and get "credit" for it.

Yeah thats definitely food for thought. I am particularly interested in their trading simulators and technolgy integration with their courses. Being MIT , I would expect these to be cutting edge. I noticed that only Columbia out of the ultra elites seems to have a sales and trading club. Every other school had an Investment Banking club but nothing directly sales and trading related.
