Mock 1 analysis help needed.

Okay hi everyone...

After 2 years i tried a gmat mock...From last 2 months was studying on and off solely quant from mgmat and OG but did not study verbal at all. Tried myself on Power prep mock 1 today, got a poor score but a lot of things are clear after analyzing it for hours...

Need some helpful suggestion on study material, study plan and execution of all...So here is the mock 1 score and mock 2 score at the bottom of the post.

410 15%ile

Q32= 37%ile
V16= 08%ile

Quant Analysis= Incorrect questions

4,5,7,9,10,11,12,13,15,23,24,25,28,29,30,32,33,36,37.

18/37 correct.

DS= 9/16 Correct

PS= 9/21 Correct

All the questions were seemed doable made 7 silly mistakes. 5 incorrect out of 1st 10 and 9 incorrect out of 1st 20.

Target in quant was to get as many ques's right in 1st 20 as possible.

Verbal analysis= incorrect ques's

SC= 8/16 ( Attempted all but completely forgotten all rules)
CR= 7/11 ( 4 incorrect were guesses rest all attempted were correct)
RC= 6/14 ( Out of 4 passages attempted 3 and got 6/11 correct, guessed the entire 4th passage 0/3 correct)

21/41 correct

Out of 1st 10 ques's 3 were incorrect and out of 1st 20 questions 7 were incorrect.

Target in verbal was to get as many ques's right in 1st 20 as possible. Guessed more than last 10 questions because of tiredness.

CR= 9/15 correct ( last 0/4 cr guessed)

I would recommend working on timing and pacing. In the GMAT the last question is as important as the first.
To start with I would focus on pacing and building your stamina.
Once your knowledge of the key concepts i would recommend doing banks of timed questions.

The GMAT forum can suggest a couple of books for specific areas you want to focus on.

You might also want to start reading the economist and a good quality English newspaper to help with the verbal section.
Good luck with your study plan.

Thanks for the suggestion i do believe that i need to build my stamina...

Quant was disappointing as i throughly understood mgmat number system, word trans and geometry...Had a accuracy of more than 80% doing OG problems..Also in the gmat forum i feel comfortable doing uptill 650 level problems...

I am through with few of the manhattan books 4th edition with OG12. Here are the results..

Mgmat number system- :-D

Basic OG 12 ques PS- 80% accuracy
Basic OG 12 ques DS- 95%+ accuracy

Advanced OG 12 ques PS- 80%accuracy
Advanced OG 12 ques DS- 90%accuracy

Mgmat Word Translation- :)

Basic OG 12 ques PS- 70%accuracy
Basic OG 12 ques DS- 90%accuracy

Advanced OG 12 ques PS- 50%accuracy
Advanced OG 12 ques DS- 50%accuracy

Mgmat Geometry- :|

Basic OG 12 ques PS- 80%accuracy
Basic OG 12 ques DS- 80%accuracy

Stop taking practice tests! You clearly see you have a lot to work on- not a bad thing but taking tests isin't going to help that. Get the manhattan gmat guides and build your foundation well. Tackle each category (ex rate problems) until you have no trouble with them, and only then move on. This could take a solid month. However, do this and then start taking practice tests. This test is all about knowing your basics cold.. you can take 100 practice tests, your not going to improve without learning the material well...

Also, I disagree with the above comment that the last question is as important as the first. This is more false on quant. When you get to your last three questions, the computer knows your level.. your not going to change the score that much, even if you were to get the last three all wrong. As a matter of fact, I got my highest quant score , 48, on gmat prep when I got the last 5 wrong but most of the first 15 right...

Also- Based on the list of schools you are applying for, I would give myself a solid three months to work on the gmat... do you realistically think you'll be ready on 9/24? You can prep and take in november/december and apply round 2....

I am already through with Mgmat num prop, word trans and geometry and you can see my OG accuracy in the above post of mine....Most of them are above 80%. I am very much comfortable with those concepts and i clearly understood each word before i preceded further. I am comfortable doing problems from all section uptill 650 and beyond that i get confused.

I know my scores are saying the polar opposite side of it.....But i have checked that while doing OG problems and GC quant thread problems too....

The reason i started taking mocks were to increase my stamina as i have to rush in the last 10 questions of both QA and VA....Aslo i have seen a pattern in QA i get 7-10 questions wrong in first 20 and then i get last 5-6 wrong in last 7 questions and this is the reason my scores dont go up even if i get 24/37 correct.

You are right i have the postpone the gmat to R2 no other option...and also i will again revise the concepts on weekly basis.
