Let x be the number of guests.

Number of muffins prepared = 5x + 2
Number of muffins eaten + Number of muffins remaining = Number of muffins prepared
6(x - 1) + 3 = 5x + 2
6x - 3 = 5x + 2
x = 5

Answer: C

5N +2 = 3 + 6(N-1)
Solving N= 5
