Monique: Whenever I get depressed about the direction in which my life is going, I seem to receive another bit of horrible news. It's almost as if someone up there waits until I am at my most emotionally vulnerable and decides to make things worse.

The flaw in Monique's reasoning is the possibility that

A) the phrase ”emotionally vulnerable" is difficult to quantify.
B) Monique would feel better if she braced herself for bad news whenever she felt depressed.
C) people deal with bad news in many different ways because some people are more stable than others.
D) when Monique is emotionally vulnerable, the bad news she hears seems much more horrible than it actually is.
E) her feelings of depression might be treatable if she sought professional counseling.

Monique: Whenever I get depressed about the direction in which my life is going, I seem to receive another bit of horrible news. It's almost as if someone up there waits until I am at my most emotionally vulnerable and decides to make things worse.

The flaw in Monique's reasoning is the possibility that

Whenever monique get depressed about the direction in which her life is going, she seems to receive another bit of horrible news
someone up there waits for the emotionally vulnerable moment and decides to make things worse.

Depression is emotionally vulnerable moment and any news that is against your wishes seems horrible.

A) the phrase ”emotionally vulnerable" is difficult to quantify.(even if the phrase emotionally vulnerable is difficult to quantify,it is not a flaw because she accepts that she get depressed)
B) Monique would feel better if she braced herself for bad news whenever she felt depressed.(she may feel better but she is not in that frame of mind at the time of depression)
C) people deal with bad news in many different ways because some people are more stable than others.( seems irrelevant because every individual is different, argument is only about Monique)
D) when Monique is emotionally vulnerable, the bad news she hears seems much more horrible than it actually is.( keep)
E) her feelings of depression might be treatable if she sought professional counseling.(professional counseling is the action to treat the feelings of depression, not a flaw)

Will go with choice D.

Please correct if i am wrong.
Thanks

IMO:A

A) the phrase ”emotionally vulnerable" is difficult to quantify. (CORRECT, how can someone know WHEN her depression reaches the peak , its hard estimate the maximum degree of her emotional vulnerability :) )

B) Monique would feel better if she braced herself for bad news whenever she felt depressed. ( its not about the way to deal with problems, but its about defining her degree of emotional vulnerability)

C) people deal with bad news in many different ways because some people are more stable than others. ( it is out of scope , we dont talk about the ways how to deal with problems)

D) when Monique is emotionally vulnerable, the bad news she hears seems much more horrible than it actually is. ( HORRIBLE is HORRIBLE, LESS HORRIBLE, OR MORE HORRIBLE , IT IS STILL HORRIBLE, HENCE IT DOESNT WEAKEN , I THINK SO

E) her feelings of depression might be treatable if she sought professional counseling. ( out of scope , we are not concerned about treatment of depression )
