Went with E, because the parallelism is needed for all items in the series. Here is an official explanation from BeatTheGMAT.

(D) carry little experience, and
(E) carry little experience, and offer

Between D & E
I chose D

Most interns who work for pay hold positions that require few skills,
Most interns carry little experience and little hope for permanent placement.

In E, the second line does not make sense. Most interns carry little experience and offer little hope for permanent placement. Interns will not offer hope for permanent placement.

Please explain.

Totally agree with @aakrety. I used the same reasoning for picking D over E

Cheers!
J :)

Only (E) option offers suitable parallelism. Note the comma after little experience. It is there because there are three different verbs: require <something>, carry <something>, and offer <something>.

This formation: carry <something>, and <something> does not make sense because of comma.

I'm going with D on this one.

We are told that most interns who work for PHP that require few skills, carry little experience (referring to the interns) and little hope for permanent placement (again referring to the interns)

This is perfectly clear to me

Would anybody please clarify why D is wrong and whether I'm getting the intended meaning of the sentence wrong?

Cheers
J

PS. Would you say that the interns offer little hope? Is that correct? I thought that the job should be the one offering little hope

Answer should be C

since positions that require.blah blahh

so positions that require....carry littelt experience does not make any sense.

Also hold and offer are parallel here since doer these verbs is intern

Expert - While there are contradicting posts about this question, can you please explain the OE.

The way I understood this sentence is -
Positions that require:
1. few skills
2. little experience.
3. and offer little hope.. .....Option C.

(A) little experience, and also
(B) little experience, and with
(C) little experience, and offer
(D) carry little experience, and

(E) carry little experience, and offer

Option E is correct.

The elements in the list in parallelism should be coherrent and structurally similar.

list:

require few skills
carry little experience
and offer hope for permanent placement.

The three items you have pointed out break parallelism - items 1 and 2 are nouns ("skills" and "experience"), but item 3 is a verb ("offer"). Thus Option C is wrong.

Parallelsim is alright in Option E: "require", "carry" and "offer" maintain parallelism (all verbs).

Hi RD ,

How can you select choice c?

Most interns who work for pay hold positions that require few skills, little experience, and offer little hope for permanent placement.

Most interns - subject
modifier -who work for pay hold
Modifier- that require few skills, little experience

? verb of first part of the sentence?

and offer hope for permanent placement.

1.
I ate mangos and drank milk

ate is the verb for the first part and drank is the verb for the second part. However, in choice C, first part does not have any verb

2. "that require few skills, little experience" modifies "pay hold". Two elements "few skills" and "little experience" should be connected by "and".

3. How can intern OFFER little hope? "Most interns have little hope for permanent placement" will be correct.

Among all the choice, I found D the best one

(A) little experience, and also
(B) little experience, and with
(C) little experience, and offer
require little experience ?
interns may have zero experience also.
(D) carry little experience, and
(E) carry little experience, and offer
Correct.

Thanks, I failed to observe that this is a parallelism with verbs instead of nouns.
