Most spices are prepared for use in food after being dried and often ground or grated into powder, unlike the preparation of small seeds which are sometimes used whole

(A) the preparation of small seeds which are sometimes used whole--preparation is compared with species
(B) small seeds, which are sometimes used whole--correct ..seeds is compared with species
(C) small seeds' preparation, which sometimes get used whole--same as A
(D) when small seeds are prepared by being used whole---wrong comparison
(E) the whole usage of small seeds which is sometimes the preparation--wrong comparison

Sentence demands a parallel construction and only small seeds is parallel to Most spices (subject)...Thus answer is B
