Hello
biz139Great job on scoring high on practice tests that too with no preparation.
With preparation you should be able to score 750+.
This will put give you a
spike in academic potential.
However any good b-school will judge your candidature based on several factors (see below)
1. Academic Potential- They look at past scores+GMAT to see if you can handle the academic rigor. You seem to have that.
2. Quality Work Ex- With decent career progress and achievements to talk about. You are still to start on this.
3. Clarity of Goals- This is more important than GMAT. Why MBA and Why your choice of university? If you don't seem a right fit for the university, they will not call you.
4. Diversity- Are you a good addition to the class? Will you bring in fresh perspectives? Will your peers learn from you? You seem to have some brownie points here, but you will need to get some quality work ex ideally.
To get an admit in top B-Schools you will need a spike in at least 2 of the above factors. As an exception schools do end up taking people will no work ex but that is an exception.
You are doing good, 1. get some work ex, 2. make sure you have a compelling reason to pursue an MBA and you stand a good chance of getting into one.
Best

Hey everyone, I've occasionally considered business school as a possible avenue and I find these types of tests to be interesting intellectual activities, so I took a practice GMAT for fun without any prep. I did the first GMAT Prep test and got a 760. I figured it was a fluke, but proceeded to score 740, 770, and 750 on the free
Veritas exam, the 2nd GMAT Prep exam, and the free
Kaplan exam respectively. All were under timed conditions. On all exams Verbal was between 42 and 48, with Quant either 49 or 50.
If I put some time into studying, I'm assuming I could score in this range or a little higher (760-780ish) on a real GMAT. My question is whether or not that would get me an admission to a good school. I would be a very non-traditional applicant, as I'm currently a fourth year MD student at an MD program ranked top 10 worldwide. In order to get into med, I had a 4.0 GPA and did some interesting extracurricular activities, so an application to business school would be decently strong from that perspective. HOWEVER, I've never worked at a "real company"; rather I will be working as a resident physician at a hospital once I graduate.
What are my odds of getting into Harvard or a similar school for an MBA if I were to apply?
Thanks everyone!
*Also, sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, wasn't sure where it should go.
