Can you suggest how you analysed the tests and what you studied in between.

Thanks for those additional tips, Kaps. I often wonder how to spend the time between finishing study guides and GMAT most efficiently. Good advice.

Just received the official score report and updated the original post with AWA 5.5 and IR 8. The official percentiles are below:

Test Date Verbal Quantitative Total Analytical Writing Integrated Reasoning
09 July 2012 44 / 97% 50 / 90% 760 / 99% 5.5 / 77% 8 / 94%

IR 8 is surprise and I was not confident of that because I used to score pathetic on MGMAT CATs on this section. So don't stress out if you too feel hazy on this section in mocks. As mentioned in my original post, I had a good attempt on only 9 out of 12 IR questions in the real exam so you may also benifit from accuracy and picking out the questions you are comfortable with if you feel short on time.

On AWA, I feel writing 100 more words might have got me another 0.5 but anything above 4 is good in this section. So following template and doing AWA on mocks is good enough.

I am currently trying to get the whole app strategy in place. The whole App thing is way too much consuming and seemingly much more important than GMAT - more so for an overage and on career break candidate like me

Guys,
I have one query regarding where to appear for this exam. Currently i am in uk , is it ok and advisable to appear for this test from UK or India ? Does this make any difference?

Some update from my side. I have got an admit from IIM Ahemdabad's one year full time MBA (IIMA - PGPX). I am delighted . IIMA is the highest ranked college in India and PGPX is ranked 11th worldwide in FT rankings of last two years.

So far my app journey has been good considering that I am already 33 years old, have a very common profile, and currently not in a job. I had my share of jitters reading all doom and gloom about my kind of case. So far I have had 100% +ve result (invited for interview or admit) in all the colleges that I have applied in. I think my good GMAT score, good undergrad, and genuine essays have helped. About essays, I followed general dos and don'ts and followed my heart when writing.

I am writing all this just so that others like me can find some good news among a lot of bad news currently present on internet about old and career break guys.

Incredible !! IIMA is a dream school
Accept my heartiest congratulations.

Thanks Rahul and Gurpreet for the wishes !

Sorry Rahul, I won't share my essays because (1) In my essays I have some personal stuff, which I could share with only adcoms. (2) It is in your best interest to be original in your essays without getting impressions from other's essays. Other's essay might cloud or inhibit your thinking.

General advice: Read couple of App writing books such as How to get into Top MBA programs by Richard Montauk and Your MBA gameplan by Omari Bouknight & Scott Shrum. If you are short on time, read the second one. Start thinking about and noting down your achievements, strengths, weakness, career so far, challenges faced, uniqueness in you, extracurricular activities, future short and long term goals, schools fit for you, how you fit in a school, why MBA, why Now, why from that school, prospective recommenders, etc. Weave a coherent story in an application with clarity of thought and no contradictions among essays in an applications. Write in an interesting and personal tone. Quantify when possible, e.g., improved sales by 40% in 3 months. Be specific and avoid general statements. All the best !
