After taking GMAT twice - last winter: 330 and last spring: 410. (I took GMATPrep two months ago and I got 560!!!), I realized that the only good source for preparing for GMAT is
Official Guide 10th (Remember The
OG 11 is :
OG 10 in three books!) and GMATPrep(the questions are similar to what you will see in the real exam). Now, I am thinking to take the GMAT in first week of April 2008.
Here is my plan:
1. Brush up on some math principals.
2. Study
OG 10th. Try to solve 10 questions from EACH sections EVERY DAY(50 questions per day) and take a note for every question that I make a mistake.
3. When I finish all of the questions, I will take GMATPrep Test1 and analysis Test1.
4. Retake Test1
5. Take GMATPrep Test2 and analysis Test2.
6. Retake Test2
7. If my scores were close to my target score (580 - 620), then I will take the real test.
Please let me know what do you think about this plan. If you have any suggestion regarding this plan, please let me know.
Thanks!
I like the idea that you've got a plan, but I think you should have some things added to it. If you were scoring that low, you need to brush up on Verbal principles as well as Quant basics. Also, when you do you 50 questions a day, and make note of the problems you did wrong, be sure to note the problems that you also guessed at, and got correct. Even if you had it down to 2 choices, you need to analyze until you are 100 percent sure of how to solve the problem. Once you've done this, and completed the entire
OG, I would go back and retry every problem you missed or guessed on again, then analyze.
I think quality prep is more about understanding your strengths and weaknesses, then attacking the weaknesses by analyzing what you did wrong.
Other than that, I like the idea of taking the GMATPrep Test 1, reviewing, then doing it again, but give some time in between these retakes to study some materials that may help you improve on your specific weaknesses, whether it be SC, RC, DS, whatever. Then repeat for GMATPrep 2. Anyways, with hard work, you will get the score you desire. Best of luck.
