Need GMAT Verbal Prep Suggestions [#permalink]

I have a 4 to 6 weeks prep time for taking my GMAT. Have been working with PR Cracking the GMAT 2011 Edition for Quant review. I have excellent Quant b/g, so I am not worried about it -- just need to practice. Aced PR book assessment, which recommended to focus on level 4 & 5 problems for practice.

Verbal is my weakness -- at least I think so. Have been out of college for several years (actually, ages!). Have good business writing exp, but no formal grammar training or creative writing exp.

Which verbal book should I start with? PR Cracking the GMAT, Kaplan GMAT Premier 2011 or Kaplan Verbal Workbook?

I would follow it with PowerScore Verbal Bible OR individual MGMAT verbal books (based on my weakness areas). Again, which one would be a better choice, given the short prep time? Or, should I skip the first book and jump directly to one of these?

Finally, where does the Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review fit in?

BTW, I will be quite happy with 700 - 720 for overall score -- given the short prep time.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I also started my GMAT prep with PR Cracking the GMAT. Its a 'starter' guide that I didn't find it to be helpful. In fact, that book gave me the perception that GMAT is an easy test, which is far from the truth. Now, I'm studying the entire set of MGMAT guides, and its definitely better than PR.

Thanks, Samwong. I would work with MGMAT set, but I am afraid I do not have time. I have a hard deadline of March 1, 2011 to take my first GMAT. So I am looking for something that is a bit condensed, but has sufficient depth.

BTW, are you using selected MGMAT guides, or the whole set?

I have the entire MGMAT set and so I plan to go through all the guides. Everyone is different, you must identify your weakness and try to improve it. One of my biggest problem is reading comprehension and speed. Very often, I would have to read a CR stimulus twice before I can understand its meaning. However, there is just not enough time on the test to read everything twice. Thus, beside studying the MGMAT guides, I'm also reading one of the GMAT novels to overcome my weakness.
