Hi all,

I just joined the club and have found the posts awesome. Thanks to you all for your enthusiastic help to new comers like me.

I have been preparing for the GMAT for the last 3 months and have one month left before I take the exam. I have started taking full length tests - OG & Princeton. I am scoring 45+ in Quant but my verbals have been poor (less than 30). RC & SC have been the tough parts, I am doing well in CR.

Any suggestions as to how I can quickly improve SC & RC would be most helpful. Pleaseeeeee suggest

I have read a lot of posts about advices on these topics and found those extremely helpful. Given my situation (1 month left, God help me) please advice what all I can do to get quick help on these two topics (SC & RC).

~Pranay.

Have you used the Princeton book for strategies as well as the tests? I thought the verbal strategies were very good.

How are your English grammar skills? If they're weak it will be hard to improve SC in a short period of time. Do you have a grammar guide like Grammar Smart or Strunk & White?

Dude here's my 0.02c for improving you verbal.

1. Learn the basics of GMAT SCs from Manhattan GMAT SC guide. Then go through OG (even if you have completed once) and for each SC categorize the errors. MGMAT SC book also points the ERROR in each of the choices in OG. That's too important to miss.
2. For CR and RC practice - do lot of practice. Initially don't worry about time. Learnhow to solve the questions and with further practice, it is always possible to improve on speed. Refer to Princeton GMAT book for introduction about CRs and question types. For practice you can use the CR1000 and RC1000 from the verabl section of this site.
3. Most importantly focus on OG! Read OG explanations. They show you how to arrive at the correct answer. I used only OG11.

While my score in Verbal is not stellar (V36/80%), I would have been in worse shape had I not studied MGMAT SC book and OG!

Read Rhyme's post and learn as much as possible from his techniques http://www.gmatclub.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=30030

Good luck!

And even if your Quant is really good, don't just kill urself with Verbal prep. Everyday parctice a few DS and PS too.

Thanks Giddi77 & Spongeboob for replying.

My grammar skills are good, but I realized I need to do some more practice re: GMAT SC question types. I found Rhyme's method on RC helpful - but need to use his suggested technique on a few more passages.

Thanks so much for your help.
