Hmm... You raise a good point. Even I don't write down anything at home. However, I do make sure to understand each and every word of the passage before moving on to the next line. On further introspection, I do remember getting carried away during the exam because of time constraints and not understanding every word and line.
So, key takeaways for me would be to:
1. Calm my nerves, understand each and every word before moving on to the next line, and
2. Make notes irrespective of the difficulty of passage. I can begin practicing for this at home.
This helps. Thanks a ton!
Cheers!

RC is also harder for me on "gameday". I'm not sure if it's the nerves or what, but I find it harder to focus on the long passages. What's your RC strategy? For me, I like to take VERY brief notes and map out the passage as I read it. It helps me remember what I've read, and also makes it easier to go back and find relevant sections of the passage.
It's interesting because I rarely need to write anything down at home, but it's a bit of a comfort/safety blanket thing on test day. I was able to pull off a V48 the other day so figured I'd pass that along in case it works for you as well.
