Hi everyone
I am just starting to study GMAT , with a specified goal to get into MFA/MBA dual degree NYU, hoping that it would get me to some part of film-making in hollywood
I am 33yrs old , hailing from a small town in southern India
Did bachelors in medicine and worked in poorest villages . Drawn more into humanities and arts , especially Chekhov and Kurusowa inspired me. I knew that if I continued in health sector with my kind of ideals , I would end up like Dr.Binayak Sen and some other doctors who live in remotest areas fighting all life but not getting justice . I was more keen on telling such incidents to world and making people aware . Joined film school, improved my craft in writing by penning down a couple of novels , making short films and now just done with a feature. For 4 years struggling to make the kind of films I want , but lack of proper studio and distribution system here and ruthlessness of existing ones which demand the kind of films I do not want to make , I aimed to get into international film business circuit and then found the above MBA programme I mentioned.
Now..though I had been good at studies , it has been almost 8years since I sat at a place and studied for exams.. now facing serious problems of attention deficit and distraction.
Most distracting thought is : IS MY PROFILE ELIGIBLE to be considered in B schools ? My age , my background etc etc ?

I have read the"mba without work ex " threads. But considering my background is a bit diverse, what are my chances of getting through.

Hello guys, I'm William, a newbie from Rochester. Nice to be a part of this community.

Hi everyone, I finished my undergrad in engineering this spring and have worked in R&D at an aerospace company since then. Thinking about making the leap to B-school and the business world in ~5 years.

Graduated from a T15 undergrad but had a rough time which led to me leaving after 4 years a bit shell-shocked and with a low GPA. I'm also unconfident about how I'm doing in my current job, but hopefully I can get everything together in the next thousand days or so.

Business wasn't on my radar at all in high school or college, but I did a lot of self-discovery after graduating when I first started my job, and it led me to discover that my interests and skills may be aligned with B-school and the exit opportunities it provides. And even if I don't end up matriculating, the self-improvement that I'll go through (learning to network, interviewing, writing essays, getting involved in the community, etc.) will be worth it anyways. So here I am!

Also, I wanted to mention I was a heavy user of College Confidential when I was applying to college, and loved being there. So I'm glad to see there's a similar community around B-school!

Low GPAs can be counted but you really want to get a stellar GMAT score - be wroth starting to study now to keep up the skills you will need for the exam. Good luck in the future!
