If x is divisible by 42. Which of the following
numbers is definitely a factor of x2? (Choose

a) 63 b) 33 c) 36 d) 8

It will be helpful if group can explain the answer as well.

x is divisible by 42 means x = 42k where k is any natural number different from 0.
so x = 42k = 2*3*7k
x2 = x*x = 2*2*3*3*7*7*k*k

63 = 9*7 is factor of x2
33 = 3*11 is not a factor of x2
36 = 4*9 is a factor of x2
8 is not a factor of x2

Hope the above explanation is clear.
