NYU Langone - Spring 2011

As far as I understand it, we only hear from Kroll if they can't get the info they need - otherwise, it seems like we just hear from NYU once everything is complete. Sounds like it might be awhile.

As for the financials, I'm 25 and without substantial savings, so I'm using Stafford and Grad PLUS loans to finance most of this beast. Hoping to put a couple thousand (if that) down in cash each semester. My company is rather young and doesn't have a policy on tuition reimbursement yet, but I'm casually bringing it up every chance I get.

I just got an email from the adcom that I got in.
This is my third application to NYU (Langone) in 2 years.
Basics: 30/M/Indian
GMAT: 640
Ugrad: 3.70 from strong Indian Engineering institute.
WE: 8 years (multiple countries) Currently Product Manager – Financial Services + IT industry.
Essays: good
Recs: very good
EC: some volunteer, average.

Just got the following email:

WAHOO! I initiated the verification process on October 28th and got this response today, about a week and a half later. Admittedly, though, my work history is very short and was probably incredibly simple to verify. And I'm a domestic student - I know internationals typically take more like 4-6 weeks. As far as I know, they didn't call any of my recommendations, and I'm not sure about my company's HR. I'll try to find out just so I can confirm on here.

If you have submitted the 2010-2011 FAFSA, you will soon receive an email from the Office of Financial Aid confirming your loan eligibility and next steps. Please read the following instructions:

You will first be prompted to log onto NetPartner, where you may view your financial aid information online. You can use NetPartner to accept/reduce your eligible loan amounts and proceed with the next steps.

Per federal regulations, we are obligated to award you a total of $20,500 in Stafford loans for the Spring semester since you have not borrowed in the Fall. Typically, most students borrow only $10,250 in Stafford loan funds per semester.
If you choose to accept the full amount now, you will not receive additional Stafford loans in the Summer '11 semester.
You may reduce your Spring '11 Stafford loans in NetPartner to $10,250 and be eligible for the remaining $10,250 in Summer '11.

You will receive an email early next Spring with steps on how to secure Summer federal loans.

*Please note: You must be registered for at least six credits per semester to be eligible for federal Stafford loans.

Do you have proof of your MMR immunizations? If yes, go to your doctor, get the form (sent in the mail along with admission offer) signed & mail it to NYU health dept. Pls note that you would need to send across MMR proof too.

If you don't have MMR records, I would suggest that get 2 MMR shots (note - they need to be administered 28 days apart), get the form signed & send across.

You also have a third option which I had opted & would not suggest. It was like:
> Did not have MMR record. So went for a titer to determine if I was immune to Mumps, Rubella & Measles.
> Blood report indicated that I was not immune to measles & my doctor did not have measles specific shot. Insurance was not willing to cover the titer expenses too.
> So ended up taking 2 MMR shots (28 days apart).
> Got the form signed from the doctor & sent across.

If you dont have the records & titer results are not conclusive. then you will have to wait for 28 days at least to get this done.

Bursar Forms
- It is relatively simple.
- Fill some generic info in the forms.
- Upload a passport size photograph.
- Pay ard $8500 as tuition fee.

Thats it.

Count me in. Now the waiting begins!

Retook stat and econ this summer (A's) and tried to justify the low gpa (25 hour+ internships). Hopefully got my point across that i'd love to attend and can contribute. Good luck!

looks like they just raised the gmat range to 620-730. 610 doesn't cut it anymore.

I think an increase from 610 --> 620 isn't huge and I guess one could expect this trend to continue as MBA programs become more popular, including the part-time programs.

Side question: I haven't rec'd an email with a password to check on my application. If somebody rec'd this email, about how long did it take after submitting the application?

I submitted everything (transcripts, Recs, essays etc) on 15-Sep. Got the acknowledgment email from Stern saying that my submission is successful. After that, haven't got any email with password to check the status.

got username and pw this morning. submitted 9/13

Basically. Also said they will begin releasing decisions in early October.
