I think this thread is not exactly fits your question but anyway
first of all it depends on your knowledge and which stage you are at
second it depends on your type of learning, if your are fast learning type of people this forum will help you very much otherwise one month is not enough (IMO)
how long time past since you graduated from high school and college graduation?
Last point I think is which country you are from or where you get your education, if you are native speaker(english) it might be enough time however if you are international student with not strong command of language you better to get more time

what does GSB stand for? does it refer to stanford graduate school of business?

Stanford and Chicago used GSB at the end to distinguish their Business schools. (Graduate School of Business)

Chicago GSB is now Booth, so Stanford is the only GSB I am aware of at the moment.

ding = rejected. usually people will post ding without interview, or just ding. i dont think it stands for anything, except maybe the sound a bell makes.

Thanks for your help shadowsjc, here is another "OMG what a newbie" question?
Can someone help me fully understand this whole thing about the application rounds? I keep seeing people talk about R1 and R2 and I have no idea why?

R1, R2, etc., refer to the deadlines for specific schools. the general consensus is that applying before the school's first deadline (R1) offers the best chance of getting in, although that's not so clear to me any more. i do think you get the best chances to get $$$ from schools by applying before the first deadline. most schools have 3 deadlines... applying R3 at these schools is generally not recommended, as most of the spots will have been filled up by then.

HSW - Harvard/Stanford/Wharton
MBB - McKinsey, BCG, Bain
MC - Management Consulting
PE - Private Equity

A few more that are probably worth adding:

IB - Investment Banking

M7 - Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Booth, Kellogg, Sloan, Columbia

HSW - Harvard, Stanford, Wharton

$$$ - Full waiver (funding), $$ - Half or decent fee waiver, $ - Small scholarship (Not sure but this is how I interpret)

EC - Extra Curricular

I can't think of anything else at this time.

In the profile of most members, there's a school list with W, D, M, I, II etc. I know a few (Waitlisted, Matriculating for e.g.) but what do the others mean?

Hi, could someone let me know what the abbreviations in parentheses next to schools in users' profile snapshots mean? As an example - School name (D), School name (S), School name (M) etc.

I know (D) is for ding and (A) is for accepted; don't know about the rest
