Hi,

I currently have 2 years of work experience and I'm targeting the US full-time MBA programs and ISB.
I took the GMAT in April, 2017.
I know that GMAT scores are valid for 5 years. I want to know whether schools discount your GMAT scores the older they get such that they favor newer scores more for the purpose of admission and scholarships.
For example, for the admission season in 2019-2020, someone who got 760 or even 740 recently would seem more favorable to schools than someone who took GMAT in 2017 and scored 760, given everything else is on par between the two.

Hi ZenYogi ,

Lol, what a great question but unfortunately I would say none of BSchools considers how old the scores are. What they see is it should be Valid. So, even if your score is valid for 1 month now or for 59 months, it doesn't make any difference.

Someone has really overanalyzed. Schools won't trick you.

Let me explain where this is coming from. I met an industry professional recently who suggested that I would might want to retake the GMAT if I plan on applying later so that scores stay recent. Therefore, I thought of asking Admission Consultants here what they think.

Don't worry about this, the school is only not valid if it is outside of the 5 year window outside of that schools do not care if it is only within the window by a day. As long as it is valid they will focus on the things they care most about your GMAT score - Overall score and Q score
