1. Opening a retail business in Kosovo is not inadvisable, despite what critics of the plan may say. Eighteen years ago, we opened a retail business in Beirut during an invasion, and that location has been generating profits ever since .Which of the following is the author of the above argument trying to imply?

A) The proposed retail store can make money despite being in the middle of a war zone.
B) Wars are profitable for retail.
C) Kosovo is not as politically unstable as Beirut.
D) Opponents of a new construction company in Kosovo are probably biased.
E) The proposed company in Kosovo will do better than the construction company in Beirut.

I dont know the answer, Kindly explain along with the right answer

I think A. Since the second part of the reading suggested that it is similar retail store and it thrived so building a new store in war zone *should* be profitable as well.

I wonder why do you take C into account. Confusion is between A and C(atleast for me):)

I choose A.

Why not C: This is an assumption> If wars are profitable (assumed) only then the proposed store will make profits over long term. This is MUST for the stem to hold true.

Ans: A

You are comparing the "success" of a retail business in Kosovo( war zone) WITH store already functioning in Beirut which happens to be a war zone.

I think C is out of scope: Why is political stability even an issue? if you are thinking C.. you are putting too much CNN into your thought..

Hey,

A) The proposed retail store can make money despite being in the middle of a war zone.
=> It's closely tied with argument.
B) Wars are profitable for retail.
=> It not clear.
C) Kosovo is not as politically unstable as Beirut.
=> out of scope.
D) Opponents of a new construction company in Kosovo are probably biased.
=> out of scope.
E) The proposed company in Kosovo will do better than the construction company in Beirut.
=> out of scope.

So I go for A!

IMO A, Was confused between A& B but since the profitability in the argument is not limited to War but even after that. Captured correctly by A and Not by B.
